KNM Madrasa Classes – Classes 1 to 8
Our KNM Madrasa Classes are designed for students from Class 1 to Class 8, following the structured curriculum of the Kerala Nadwathul Mujahideen (KNM) Education Board, Kerala. The programme is intended to provide students with a systematic foundation in Quranic learning and Islamic education while complementing their regular school studies.
The KNM Education Board has developed structured curricula, syllabi and textbooks for primary and secondary levels, and its educational resources include textbooks, teacher materials, question papers, audio and video resources. The Board also recognises online Madrasa learning as an option for students who cannot attend a regular Madrasa.
Following a Structured KNM Syllabus
The course follows the KNM Education Board syllabus appropriate to the student's class, providing a progressive learning path from Class 1 through Class 8. Rather than treating every student as having the same level of knowledge, the tutor first considers the student's existing Quran reading ability, previous Madrasa education and understanding of Islamic subjects.
This is particularly useful for students who are joining the programme after studying in another Madrasa, have had a break in their Madrasa education, or need additional support to reach the level expected for their class.
The KNM curriculum has been developed with the aim of providing age-appropriate religious knowledge and practical skills, including the ability to recite the Quran correctly and develop knowledge of Islamic beliefs, practices, history and values.
Quran Reading and Tajweed
Quran learning and correct recitation form an important part of the programme. Students will progressively develop their ability to read the Quran, improve pronunciation and learn the relevant Tajweed principles according to their level and class.
Students who are beginners or require additional support in Quran reading can receive extra attention and practice before progressing to more advanced portions of the syllabus. Those who already have good reading skills can focus on improving their fluency, pronunciation and application of Tajweed rules.
Hifz and Selected Surahs
The programme also provides opportunities for students to memorise selected Surahs and important Quranic portions according to the prescribed syllabus and their learning level.
Regular revision is encouraged so that memorised portions are retained and students become confident in reciting them. The pace of memorisation can be adjusted according to the student's ability and progress.
Islamic Studies
Along with Quran learning, students study important areas of Islamic knowledge appropriate to their class. The syllabus progressively introduces students to Islamic beliefs, worship, manners, values and practical aspects of Muslim life.
The objective is to help students understand the fundamentals of Islam and gradually develop the knowledge and skills needed for their everyday religious life.
Aqeedah, Fiqh and Islamic Values
As students progress through the classes, they are introduced to essential concepts relating to Aqeedah (Islamic beliefs), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Akhlaq and moral values in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
The lessons are presented at an age-appropriate level, helping students understand not only what they should learn but also how Islamic teachings relate to their behaviour, responsibilities and daily life.
Islamic History and Seerah
Students also learn important aspects of Islamic history and the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Through age-appropriate lessons, they become familiar with important events, personalities and lessons from Islamic history.
These lessons are intended to help students learn from the examples of the Prophets and other important personalities while developing good character and a sense of responsibility.
Arabic and Quranic Language Skills
The KNM programme also gives appropriate attention to Arabic and Quran-related language skills as prescribed for the student's class. Developing familiarity with Arabic helps students progress in their Quran learning and understand important Islamic terminology.
The KNM Education Board provides educational materials in multiple languages, including Malayalam and English, along with other language resources.
Learning According to the Student's Class and Level
Although the course follows the KNM Education Board's prescribed syllabus, teaching can be adapted to the student's existing level. A Class 6 student who has already completed earlier Madrasa studies can proceed according to the expected Class 6 curriculum, while a student who has gaps in previous learning can receive additional support to strengthen those areas.
This approach helps students progress systematically without feeling overwhelmed or being held back unnecessarily.
Online Learning for School Students
The programme is specially designed for students from Class 1 to Class 8, allowing them to continue structured Madrasa education alongside their regular school studies.
Online classes provide the flexibility to learn from home while receiving direct guidance from a tutor. The KNM Education Board itself notes that an online Madrasa system is available for students who are unable to attend regular Madrasa classes.
A Structured Path from Class 1 to Class 8
Our KNM Madrasa Classes aim to provide students with a continuous and systematic Islamic education from the primary years through Class 8. Quran reading, Tajweed, selected Hifz, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Islamic history, Seerah, Arabic and moral education are brought together according to the student's prescribed class syllabus.
